Before reading for the Bar, Christy took a degree in Natural Sciences at Downing College, Cambridge, specialising in Genetics. She was awarded the Queen Mother Fox scholarship by Middle Temple in 1998, and joined chambers directly upon the successful completion of her pupillage at 7 New Square.
Christy enjoys a varied practice covering all areas of intellectual property law, both UK and European, including matters involving patents and design rights; trade marks and trade names; copyright in the various media; and confidential information; as well as commercial matters relating to technical subject matter and to the entertainment business. She maintains an interest in genetics, and her academic background enables her to deal with cases involving biotechnology and general technical and scientific content. She regularly accepts direct instructions from patent and trade mark attorneys, and appears in the Trade Marks Registry and Patents County Court as well as the High Court and the European Court in Luxembourg. In addition, Christy has been admitted to the State Bar of California, and undertakes work in the UK for US attorneys and corporate clients.
